Akshay Kumar's birthday to be a family affair  

Mumbai, Sep 9 (IANS) It will be family time for Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar when he ushers into a new year of his life Thursday.

The actor, who turns 43, Thursday is planning to spend time with his family on his birthday.

"I'll be celebrating my birthday with my family. We'll be going out to a nice place to eat. I work to live life to the fullest. So hoping to spend some nice time with my family," Akshay told reporters here.

Akshay, who is married to Twinkle Khanna, has a seven-year-old son. He has appeared in over 90 Bollywood fims. He made his acting debut with the 1991 film "Saugandh". 

During the 1990s, Akshay acted mostly in action films like "Khiladi" (1992), "Mohra" (1994) and "Sabse Bada Khiladi" (1995), and was particularly known for his appearances in feature films commonly called the "Khiladi Series".

He also did romantic films like "Yeh Dillagi" (1994) and "Dhadkan"(2000), but his comic performances in films such as "Hera Pheri" (2000), "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi" (2004), "Garam Masala" (2005) and "Waqt: The Race Against Time" (2005) met with acclaim.

In 2008, the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Law on Akshay in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema. In 2009, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Indian government.

Mumbai, Sep 7 (IANS) Lissome Sonam Kapoor is grateful to have a tall co-star in Akshay Kumar. As the two work together on the sets of "Thank You", she says he is the most hardworking actor she has ever met.

"He's one actor I can wear high heels with! It's such a relief," Sonam told IANS. 

"When I was signed to do 'Mausam' with Shahid Kapoor I remember I had gone to Pankaj Kapoor sir's office. Shahid measured my height. We were relieved when we were nearly the same height. In fact, he was slightly taller because of his hair." 

On the sets of "Thank You", Akshay is quite amused each time Sonam walks in with her all-girl entourage. 

"I travel with my four companions all the time. Akshay just grins each time he sees them. I've never met anyone as hardworking as Akshay. He's ready before everyone else and reshearses each scene 50 times. And his comic timing is so hard to match."

Luckily Sonam had done comedy, read "Aisha", before joining Akshay in "Thank You".

"My comedy in 'Aisha' is very Lucille Ball, very Goldie Hawn. But in 'Thank You', I needed to drop all my inhibitions. I remember me and my girls had seen 'Houseful' and I asked one of my group, Tanya, to go to Akshay on the sets and do that scene where Arjun Rampal points to his eyes to say he was watching Akshay. 

"When Tanya did that gesture, Akshay spontaneously did it back. He's such a sport and so cute. He has a great sense of humour and he knows so much on every topic."

Sonam had the unit of "Thank You" on hold in Toronto. They heaved a sigh of relief when she joined them. 

Director Anees Bazmi being a family friend, she had asked for time to promote her film "Aisha" in India. This Bazmi happily granted even as Akshay Kumar grinned and bore the brunt of her absence. He did solo shots and a solo song as everyone waited for Sonam to join the unit.

Says Sonam: "I get along all with my co-stars because I don't get involved with them. Bobby Deol is so shy. His cousin Abhay is just the opposite. Abhay and Bobby are complete opposites. Me and Bobby love clothes and shopping."

She admits she isn't in touch with her first co-star Ranbir Kapoor any longer. "We've both been working too hard. We aren't that much in touch. I'd love to work with him again."

मुंबई। बॉलीवुड के बादशाह शाहरूख खान और अक्षय कुमार की दोस्ती एक बार फिर परवान चढ़ती नजर आ रही है। सूत्रों के मुताबिक किंग खान और अक्की दोनों मिलकर एक फिल्म बनाने पर विचार कर रहे हैं। कई बार अक्षय से करीबी जता चुके एसआरके पिछले शुक्रवार को अक्षय के रिएलिटी शो "मास्टर शेफ इंडिया" के सेट पर यश राज स्टूडियो में मिले। 

सेट पर दोनों कलाकार बड़ी गर्मजोशी से मिले। शाहरूख तकरीबन पूरे दिन अक्षय के साथ ही रहे। एसआरके ने अक्की के इस शो मे न केवल काफी रूचि दिखाई बल्कि तारीफों के पुल भी बांधें। खान ने अक्षय की "तीसमारखां" की भी जमकर तारीफ की। यह उल्लेखनीय है कि शाहरूख की करीबी दोस्त फराह खान इस फिल्म का निर्माण कर रही हैं।

Action star Akshay Kumar says even though he chooses his scripts carefully, some times they turn out to be major flops at the box office. Nevertheless, he is raring to go and claims his only motto is to entertain the audience.

"I do read my scripts. In fact, I always have several script-reading sessions before I fully take on a movie. But remember, I cannot predict the future. Some of my favourite scripts have been my biggest flops, but they have sometimes been my greatest successes also," Akshay posted on Twitter in response to a fan's query.

The fan asked the actor as to why he doesn't get best actor awards even after featuring in so many films.

"I do so many, many more movies than any other actor in Bollywood. Therefore my gamble is much higher. I would rather entertain my audience than ever win an award.
