Check Out Akshay Kumar on sets of Patiala House in London

The football fever may be on in full swing but Bollywood's very own Khiladi- Akshay Kumar seems to be busy practising and playing cricket. In case you are wondering what we are talking about, well it's all about Patiala House - Akshay's big release this year in which the actor plays a cricketer. Akki recently shot for the film at some of London's historic stadiums with some of the top international cricketers. We bring you a few images of the same. Enjoy!

Patiala House also features a host of real life cricketers who would be seen sharing screen space with Akki. Here, one can see Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal, former English player David Gower and Balwinder Singh Sandhu standing alongside Akshay.

The team of Patiala House shot at some world class stadiums like The Oval and Lords in London something which no other Bollywood film unit has managed to do.

Akshay who is seen wearing the England cricket team's jersey plays a fast bowler who plays for England in this Nikhil Advani directed film. The actor even undertook bowling lessons from veteran Indian cricketer Balwinder Singh Sandhu to look the part.

Apart from shooting the cricket portions, Akki also shot for some other scenes of the film in which he is seen donning the Sikh get-up. The actor will be hoping that like his earlier release Singh Is Kinng in which he played a sardar, he once again hits jackpot withPatiala House.

Akshay happy to represent Canada tourism  

New Delhi, June 29 (IANS) Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has got a new role to play -- he will represent Canada tourism in India and is quite happy to do so.

"Feeling extremely privileged by the honour bestowed upon me by the Canada Tourism Commission to represent Canada tourism in India. I feel a strong connection to this great country and its extremely warm people. It's truly a memorable moment for me," Akshay posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

In May 2008, Akshay had received an honorary doctorate from the University of Windsor in Ontario for his work in the film industry and his social service.

The actor has even shot a few of his films in Canada including "Bewafaa", "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi", "Humko Deewana Kar Gaye" and "8 x 10 Tasveer". Akshay recently shot for Anees Bazmee's film "Thank You" in Canada.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and southern actress Trisha Krishnan recently shot a song at the famous Shri Ram Mandir in Phaltan, Satara district, Maharashtra for Priyadarshan's next project "Khatta Meetha".

Titled "Sajde Kiye", it is a romantic track. The cast and crew abided by all the rules of the temple, said a source from the sets. No footwear was allowed and the clothes worn for the song were decent. While Trisha was seen in a maroon-coloured, simple lehenga-choli, Akshay too wore an Indian ensemble.

The source also says Akshay had a lot of fun shooting for "Khataa Meetha" and that he even played a prank on co-star Rajpal Yadav.

"An assistant on the sets had a cool phone which had a unique feature of changing a male voice to a female one. Akshay being the prankster that he is, took this phone and started bombarding Rajpal Yadav with calls.

"He claimed to be a girl from Dubai and kept proposing to the actor. Inspite of poor Rajpal hanging up, Akshay kept at it for a good two-three hours before finally owning up to the prank," said the source.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan, who has given hits like "Hera Pheri" and "Bhool Bhulaiya" with Akshay Kumar, not only shares a great professional relationship but also shares a strong personal bond with the actor. 

The bonding was evident when the duo came together to shoot for an advertisement for Manappuram Gold Loan. The team was struggling to find the perfect pair of glasses that would complete Akshay's look for the ad, that's when the director stepped in and offered Akshay his glasses.

"Priyan-ji has never parted with his glasses. However, while settling on a pair for Akshay's look in the ad, he insisted that Akshay wear his glasses. Akshay was touched by his gesture," said a source.

Priyadarshan has often praised Akshay as being the actor with the best comic timing. He recently said: "I've seen Akshay grow from 'Hera Pheri' to 'Khatta Meetha', I can proudly say that he is an actor at par with anyone else. His body language, emotions, dialogue delivery and comic timing are impeccable with realism and subtlety to them."
